Dr. Gaulard's Reading List

There is also a list of recommended books.  These are books that Dr. Gaulard has personally read and he feels they of value.  A short comment from Dr. Gaulard is included and after that it's up to you. (This list is not arranged in any particular order.)

"Selling Sickness"  by Ray Moynihan and Alan Cassels
This is a must read.  It will give a very good appreciation of how successfully the pharmaceutical companies are manipulating the way you think.  You will have a whole new interpretation of the drug advertising.  These two fellas are investigative reporters.  They were just looking for some real answers through all the smoke screen.  It is a very interesting read.

"Reclaiming Our Health"  by John Robbins
Another excellent expose' of the drug industry.  This book also has an emphasis on women's health issues.  A theme that comes out in this book is the need for a partnership between the doctor and the patient instead of the doctor being  a bully.

"Harvest for Hope"  by Jane Goodall
This is wonderful book that gives a perspective of what we have done to our planet and ourselves.  As the title implies there is hope if we all begin to do things differently.

"The Healing Sun"  by Richard Hobday
Talk about an eye opener.  Why suddenly has some thing that our very survival depends upon (the sun) become such a demon.  You may think you know the answer but then again maybe you don't.

"Take Two Apples and Call Me in the Morning"  by Judy Stone
If you really want to get healthy and don't know where to start then start here with this book.  Full of good advice and ways to use that advice on a daily basis.  Over 100 recipes.

"Our Toxic World"  "A Wake Up Call"  by Doris J. Rapp
A bit of a heavy read but well worth the effort.  Very scary.  If I talk to you about the dangers of chemicals and the chemicals that YOU have in your body you will pay a lot more attention after reading this book.

"Patient Heal Thyself"  by Jordan S. Rubin
This is basically an autobiography.  This man was on the verge of death and was able to reclaim his health through whole food and natural means.  He went on to begin a highly successful company called "Garden of Life".  They are excellent products. Look for them at the health food stores.

"The Crazy Makers"  by Carol Simontacchi
The food industry cannot be trusted!  Does that seem like a rash statement?  Read this book and see if you agree.  The chemicals in the food supply are a primary source of  the wide array of health problems we are facing today; especially in Kids.

"Natural Cures They Don't want You to Know About" and "More Natural Cures Revealed"  by Kevin Trudeau
This is the guy you have probably seen on TV.  He is quite a character.  I have read both of these books and the information is good.  He is in quite a battle with the government.  There is a healthy amount of hype surrounding Kevin but he is putting up an important fight.  He is really about your freedom to choose your form of care.  Recall the recent cases of children being taken from their parents to have chemotherapy performed against the will of the parents and the child.  That's the issue that Kevin is really about.  Well worth reading.  As always keep an open mind with a dash of cynicism.

"The Hundred Year Lie"   by Randall Fitzgerald
Another eye opener regarding the cozy relationship between the FDA and the chemical industry.  Those of you as "old" as I am may recall the saying, "Better living through chemistry", well 35-40 years later the promise has become a nightmare.  This is a must read to get handle on why we have to do things differently at a personal level.

"The Great Bird Flu Hoax"   by Dr Joseph Mercola.
This is a good one to read, not only from the standpoint of realising that the "Bird Flu" is a hoax but also Dr. Mercola touches on a wide range of topics.  He discusses the influence the food and drug companies have on the information we get from the media.  He reviews a lot of simple measures we can all take to improve our health and there is large resource area at the back of the book.

This book gives you taste of the health care revolution that is underway.

"Is Your Cardiologist Killing You?"  by Sherry Rogers, MD

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time.  Dr Rogers does not pull any punches and has an absolute abundance of information for anyone, but, especially heart patients.

What you will learn about the long term side effects of blood pressure medicine will astound and alarm you.  We, I believe, all have this false sense that the blood pressure meds are these harmless pills that just lower your blood pressure.  That's what I thought and that is so far from the truth it is scarey.

How about brain shrinkage and loss of IQ.  How about Ahlziemers Disease and congetive heart failure to name a few.

This book is a must read.  It is available from http://prestigepublishing.com/cgi-bin/start.cgi/apps/cartcompanion/category.html

Dr. Andre Asks some important questions of interest to Bryan residents - Chiropractor Bryan Dr. Andre Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
